Pink Bourbon

A pink-fruited variety from Colombia's Huila, loved for bright, floral and red-fruit cups; despite the name, likely not a Bourbon.

Pink Bourbon appeared on farms in Huila, in southern Colombia, where its cherries ripen to a pinkish orange. It was long assumed to be a cross of red and yellow Bourbon, which is where the name comes from.

Genetic testing in recent years suggests otherwise: it appears closer to Ethiopian landraces than to Bourbon. Whatever its family tree, its cup is distinctive, with florals, red fruit and a bright, almost Ethiopian elegance, and it often fetches a premium.
