74158

One of Ethiopia's JARC selections from the 1970s, chosen for disease resistance and now common in Guji and Sidama.

The numbered Ethiopian varieties, 74158, 74110, 74112 and others, are selections made by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) from wild and local coffees, starting after a coffee berry disease epidemic in the early 1970s. The first digits mark the year of collection.

74158 is widely planted in southern Ethiopia, and lots that name it are usually from Guji, Sidama or Yirgacheffe. In the cup it's classic southern Ethiopia: blueberry, apricot and florals.
