Colombia

Colombia's first rust-resistant variety, released by Cenicafé in the early 1980s and the forerunner of Castillo.

Variedad Colombia was released by Cenicafé, Colombia's coffee research center, in the early 1980s, as leaf rust reached the country. It crosses Caturra with the Timor Hybrid, a natural cross with robusta that carries rust resistance.

It was widely planted for decades and later improved on by Castillo. Well grown, it gives a balanced, sweet cup with chocolate and citrus.
