Chiroso

An elongated-bean variety from Urrao in Colombia's Antioquia, known for florals and tropical fruit.

Chiroso comes from around Urrao in Antioquia, Colombia, and is known for long, narrow beans. Its parentage is uncertain: it was long thought to be a Caturra mutation, and some genetic tests point to Ethiopian landrace ancestry.

Its cup has much of what people love in Ethiopian coffee: florals, tropical fruit and lime-like brightness, and it has become a sought-after Colombian lot.
