Catuai

A compact, high-yielding Brazilian cross of Mundo Novo and Caturra, grown widely across Latin America.

Catuai was bred in Brazil by the Instituto Agronômico de Campinas, crossing Mundo Novo with Caturra, and released in the 1970s. It combines Caturra's compact size with Mundo Novo's vigor, which made it a favorite for productive farms across Brazil and Central America.

It comes in red and yellow forms. Its cup is usually sweet and approachable, with chocolate, nut and stone-fruit notes.
